  Red Cross will benefit

Laster's music to provide aid

May's disastrous flooding left an impression on singer/songwriter Angie Laster, who grew up in Pleasantville. " I couldn't get in touch with my family--- it was terrible", she said. That challenge has been overcome, but Laster lives in Lyles so she's aware that the recovery process is going to take awhile throughout Hickman County. That's led her to put her music where her heart is: Proceeds from the sale of her new CD, "Way Too Much To Think", will be donated to the Hickman County Service Center of the American Red Cross. Laster said the five-song collection of her newest work should be out this week. It will be on sale at the Hickman County Chamber of Commerce, on the Centerville Square, where she will perform on Saturday, June 26 on the Grinders Switch Radio Hour. The CD produced through Terrell Branch Music Group which she manages along with Pat Stockdale, will be available for sale there. "It was really fun", says the mother of two and grandmother of one. "It took a long time, family and things. It's hard to focus on just one thing. "It's a good combination to me. I wouldn't have it any other way". Music has, however, been a priority for her since she was able to climb upon the piano stool at Pleasantville Pentecostal Church, where her dad was the minister. That church was among the places impacted by flooding on May 1-2. " I believe in paying forward," she said last week. "It's only right to help others with it." She began songwriting at age 12, then recorded Angie Laster Gospel-- a collection that included one of her own songs. Her style has turned to country since then, though there's some rhythm and blues, too. "My backbone is Christian," she says of her style. "I have such a wide variety." Her newest CD is her third, and you can hear her cuts at her website, http://angielaster.com

Many of you are aware that my hometown of Pleasantville,Tn as well as Hickman County suffered much devastation in the recent flood that we experienced here in Tennessee. Sadly there was also loss of life from families that I knew and loved! I want to thank everyone who has helped me stay in touch with my Mammaw when the phone lines were knocked out! Tennessee is a wonderful place to live and it is amazing to see how people have come together in this time of crisis. We will recover and replace our material things, we will be there to comfort the families that have lost so much, and we will keep praying and lending a hand to those in need. On a happier note I am so excited to tell you that my new album is very close to completion and is in the mixing stages as I write this. I hope that the new material will be to your liking and can't wait to make it available to you! thank you for you thoughts, prayers, and support I hope to talk to all of you very soon!

All My Love
